The legendary and influental german band Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft, also known short as DAF, reformed in 2002 after a 17-year long break.

The duo (Gabriel "Gabi" Delgado-López and Robert Görl) released a new album called "Fünfzehn Neue DAF-Lieder" in 2003.

They are on tour right now, so if you are into this kind of stuff, you shouldn't miss it.

By the way, you DO NOT turn gay after listening to DAF.

Passing the drivers test during the Golden Era

Two tracks that I clearly remember listening to on the day I got my drivers license: November 25th, 1994.

My parents gave me their car to do my first steps on the road (go slowly, son!), weather turned misty, anyways:

I put a mixtape into the tapedeck, it was a collection of songs that I recorded from video-recordings of Yo!MTV Raps onto audio-tape. Yes, my sister had a cool VCR like that.

Two songs on that cassette turned out to be alltime fave of mine. I don't know if that is really connected, you know, subconcience and stuff, in any case: both of them still send shivers down my spine!

Digable Planets
Blackitolism (9th Wonder)
1994

This beat is a classic. The world was not ready back then. Are you now? I liked this far more than their debut stuff, that more famous "Slick Like That" never really appealed to me, but this blew me away. I am glad I bought the EXCELLENT album "Blowout Comb" some time along the way. For you poor and/or lazy people, you can find a link to this classic album right here.

Fu-Schnickens
Breakdown
1994

Be sure to crank up the bass on this one! ;-) Find a link to the accompanying album "Nervous Breakdown" here.

Sugar Minott is a herbman hustling

Sugar Minott is one of my alltime favorite reggae singers, and "Herbman Hustling" is one of my favorite songs and albums of this genre. The backing band at this performance (yes, it's f#ckin Sly & Robbie!) sounds awesome, meanwhile Sugar is going crazy!

war on drugs

Just found this at spiegel online:

That one Israelian soldier must be really upset for having to roll his own one, because his two asshole-buddies decided to smoke their doobie by themselves.

This is not linked to this, by the way, plus this post isn't funny, I know.

Jigga & Santi come hard in Brooklyn

Jay-Z ft. Santogold

First single of the Notorious-soundtrack. "Notorious" is the upcoming movie about the life (and death) of Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G., can't wait to see this.

That song is produced by Kanye West, and I think the video is pretty good. Something different, and done really nicely.

Too bad I just couldn't find one mp3 with a decent version anywhere on the net tonight, the most usable mp3s I found are:
- one "clean" (censored) version here at thefader.com
- the song on a Big Mike-mixtape ("Fourth Quarter Pressure Pt. 2"), parts of the version have the mixtape-typical and heavily annoying shouts for which I never liked these newer mixtape-DJs. Get the track on MEDIAFIRE anyways.

The Belle Stars' Clapping Song

Yeah, this song is fun (at least for a minute or two):

This is from 1982.
wikipedia says:
"The Belle Stars were an all female British rock band, founded in London in 1980 by former members of the 2 Tone ska revival band, The Bodysnatchers.(...)"

They had some sort of connection to Madness, that's how they caught my attention last night...
This blog "What I Like (The House Of Fun)" has posted their debut album from 1983.

Proper start

Ok I this is my new music-blog, I guess. Tried to put up blogs before, but never really kept at it, because there never was any concept behind it. So this is for entertainment- and music-related only. There's so much stuff I keep finding on other sites and blogs, let me share this! ;)

So let me start off in this biaatch with the latest of my infamous OWN MIXES, known among friends as "Derbe FM"´, Part 13, finished in summer 2008.

Will put it in a seperate post though, for the purpose of easy linking.
